Cat Power, the smoke and honey-voiced songs of the ever-enigmatic Chan Marshall, is planning to release a new EP of covers that will include renditions of classics by Otis Redding, The Pogues, Aretha Franklin, and CCR.

If you've yet to indulge in a soothing, scarred dose of Cat Power's interpretations of others' music, The Covers Record is a fabulous place to start.

Cat Power has announced the release of a new EP at the end of this year.

The record, 'Dark End Of The Street', features the last remaining unreleased covers from the sessions for her latest album, 'Jukebox'.

Released on December 8, the songs including Otis Redding's 'I've Been Loving You Too Long' and The Pogues'Ye Auld Triangle' as well as Aretha Franklin's 'It Ain't Fair' and Creedence Clearwater Revival's 'Fortunate Son'.

Thanks for including my photo. Chan was so sweet! This photo was taken from the back stage at the Fillmore Auditorium in SF, with her dog Mona watching her from the steps, right before she jumped on stage with her...

Cat Power's Chan Marshall provided a magnetic performance at Montreal's Osheaga 2008 music festival with her unmistakable and silky voice. I was lucky enough to finally catch her live and it's exciting to hear about the announcement of her next record.

I saw her live at the Hollywood Bowl and she was the first opening act. She was magnificent. Chan completely stole my heart when I saw her live. She was so comfortable and natural on stage and gave her full attention to the audience even though she rarely spoke to them. You truly felt as if she was singing for you and you only.

October of 2007. Chan Marshall came to Brazil to make a concert in São Paulo on the Tim Festival. But I didn't buy the tickets to see her, iI bought the tickets to see two brazilian singers and Feist. Yes, Feist, not Cat Power. But then Feist got sick and Cat Power replaced her. First I got kinda sad becausa i like Feist, but then, as soon as the concert began, i just realized that it was so much better! hahaha The concert was amazing, her voice is something that i don't have words to describe! She was very nice with all the people there and by the time I was taking this photo she was holding my hand and that's why i lost the focus!

Cat Power is an amazing woman filled with soul. These pictures were taken at the McCarren Park Pool in Brooklyn, NY, in the Summer of 2007.
