Don Imus, Duke Lacrosse, Life and Sports: What the Hell Is Going On Here?!

The NHL is in the midst of winnin’ time. The NBA nears
winnin’ time. The MLB schedule is budding. Yet, because of Don Imus’
statements, because of the Duke Lacrosse team, most of the sports world
remains in the permafrost of a silent spring.At first glance, one might
think that with CBS’ firing of Imus, major sports media outlets and
major news media outlets for that matter, might want to wrap up their
coverage of this event. Yet there is one final issue that has been
dragging on through all forms of media. It is the final salvo of “the
Imus thing,” a discharge in the form of a pot shot of blame. The target
of the psychologically-deadly projectile is the seemingly malleable,
gelatinous blob called “Black culture.” And there is one recent target
of the media’s ire who warrants special attention - ESPN’s Stuart Scott.
