Blackberry picking is a dying art by bare-faced gardener

I agree with CozyMemories that I have seen very few people picking blackberries. The same goes for windfall fruits – I have kilos of greengages and other plums in my freezer. There are also figs, quinces, hazelnuts, walnuts, sloes (black- or buckthorn Prunus spinosa), wild asparagus (in Spring). Not what you expect in France. Mushrooms, on the other hand, are another matter !

Incidentally, around here, blackberries are known as ronces http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ronce which are the brambles.
