Blooming Begonias Enthrall Tourists at Company Garden

Mussoorie: 22 July: Situated 3 kms from the Library Point on the route to Kempty Falls is Company Garden, here. A must visit for every tourist, particularly at the present, because  Begonias are in full bloom. They have changed the landscape of the garden.  Many shades of Begonia are attracting tourists and floral enthusiasts, alike.
The Begonia is one of the greatest groups of cultivated ornamental plants. Gardener Vaan Singh at the Company Garden says proudly, “Nearly 800 shades of Begonia have been introduced, here, thus making it the only place in India with such a collection.
Begonia collectors from far and wide are flocking to witness this spectacle under one roof. Flowers have been collected from various regions in India and their hybrids and variations are being introduced here.
Begonia is a genus  in the flowering plant family Begoniaceae.The genus name honors Michel Bégon a French patron of Botany. Begonia comes from  kingdom- Plantae, division-Magnoliphyta, class-Magnoliopsida, order-cucurbitales.
