No Tsunami threat by this earthquake."--" in the above information represents an indeterminable value.
Well, it did feel more like a 5.5, however it was apparently only a 4.9. No further news on damage or other at this moment.

USGS now has it at 5.1, which is worthy if not alarming.

This wasn't much of an earthquake and not worth posting about, this small kind of quake happens almost everyday. Misleading post!

Well, Thank you for the insight. The Irony is there are those that complain we do not post enough about events around the World and then those that do complain we do post to much. As I posted this I did actually not know the magnitude of the Earth Quake, I just felt it and guest it was above 5 and there for should be reported. Well it ended up being 5.1.
Thank you for the visit.

Seismic intensity 1? Wow. Must have almost felt like, um, absolutely nothing. Haven't felt a quake here in Kyoto for a while now either.
However, the great earthquake is due any second now...

As I said before, one is dammed for reporting it as well as for not reporting it.
This being said, I do have a good friend that did survive the Kobe earth quake and helped dig out his dead Nabbers and Family as well as Friends. He lives in Colorado now and comes to visit every now and then, trust me he does take any and every earth quake serious ad does even know when one is coming a couple of seconds or minutes at times before it even hits. Our Turtle and Horse where agitated in a very distinct way all day before the earth quake and I knew one would come just by looking at them. Yes it was minor compared to other earth quakes, and yet it managed to cause some damage and cost some one its life. How minor is the loss of a life? or how major before we report it?

Please verify who lost their live, nothing about that in the Japanese media or TV news?
If you reported every quake in Japan you wouldn't have time to post anything else? I think the best guideline is if its reported on NHK, (within 5 minutes of the first quake) its worth reporting. Otherwise, wait until you have an accurate report on JMA. Less than 5 are generally not worth reporting.
I was concerned that when a quake post ends up as No1 post, other people who don't live in Japan could misunderstand the seriousness, or not.

I have been in a couple of earthquakes Uwe in California....6.2 was the biggest. Not a good feeling or experience...I moved afterwards...out of State.
