Brazil is stepping ahead on use of bio combustibles again. Nowadays the less pollutant natural gas is already an important combustible over Rio de Janeiro bus fleet, now Rio wants to move to bio-combustibles running its public transportation.

The South American giant is widely known by its innovation on use of combustibles. The only question is how that would be considerate an important factor on analyzing Rio’s bid on 2016 Olympics.

During the 13th Passenger Transport Convention held in Rio de Janeiro, a Protocol of Intent was agreed upon Friday should Rio host the 2016 Summer Olympic Games.  Under the agreement all buses which transport athletes, journalists, delegations and authorities participating in the Games will use biodegradable fuel which is a by-product of renewable sources (with 20 per cent biodiesel).

Julio Lopes, Rio's secretary of transportation is optimistic:

Lopes said, "this agreement is an advance measure to improve public transport and the quality of life of Cariocas, Rio de Janeiro citizens. It will be a source of great pride to have the Olympic fleet utilizing biofuel".

Rio Olympic Bid:

Widely considered a sentimental favourite, Rio de Janiero is trying to become the first city to host the Olympics in South America.

glad to know that Brazil is being the first one to give this huge step in pro the environment! Same happened in a small town in brazil when due to the need of electricity a guy created a natural bulb using a plastic bottle and water.

Go Rio 2016! It is about time for the Olympics to be taken to the "Cidade Maravilhosa" (Marvelous city as Rio is called in Brazil) and I must say it dosen't come as a surprise to me that the people of Rio are so environmentally friendly and worried about the environment.. God has really blessed Rio with infinite natural beauty! Good Article!
