I have two pleas to other contributors here at NP.

Firstly when adding video or photos to other people's posts, could you please check first to see whether what you're uploading actually adds anything to the story that someone else has submitted.

Crowd powering is a great tool and one for which I'm entirely and eternally grateful, especially when someone takes the time, effort and interest to add photos and/or video that I'm too inept to take, upload or find for myself.

Except it can be completely inappropriate, and seem more of a ploy to increase the number of points in an effort to make one's way up the leader board (for those to whom it matters).

Today for example I "zapped" 14 videos (280 points) from my post because they weren't what the story was about.

And even as I bash away at the keyboard, I see that the same person has added another eight videos to a post written by somebody else.

Secondly, please give a little more thought to the tags you use when submitting a post.

Every time I log on, I take a look at the stories on my "home page" - those of local and regional interest. I've set it like that because not surprisingly those are the stories in which I'm most interested.

But again, I see time and time again posts that have absolutely nothing to do with France or even Europe popping up because someone has mistagged (is that a word) their post.

I check - and I look for the relevance in the (more often than not) highlighted piece. And there's none, rien, nichts, nada, niente.

So a gentle, pretty ever so polite please, if your story has nothing to do with Paris, France or Europe, don't include those words in your tags.

Thanks

Crowd powering and tags - a comment just in the hope that people will find their way to this Forum post.

These are good points and ones that we should all adhere to on NowPublic. We want to work together to make sure our stories have adequate tags and media attached, but yes, it does make a difference if the wrong tags and media are attached.

So to state again, please check that media you want to upload actually goes with the story and if you notice some of the tagging is strange on stories, help that member out by suggesting better tags. They are important because it's partly how stories are searched and if you have odd tags on your story, not only will the story get buried in the site, but no one will know it's there to read it, and that's not what we want at all.
