I think the changes are great! The whole format including font is much more readable and accessible. Maneuverability is excellent. I hope when we switch the whole site access problem clears up but we'll see. Bringing more servers on? I do not have a lot of recommendations for more changes as over time I have watched the evolution of the site and each iteration has always been a functional improvement so at least on this I trust you guys implicitly (:D)

Azzayindis may have something regarding the weather issue on here and possible be used in the dashboard application with related stories that are linked to the weather of the area each individual chooses on there own dashboard.
Personnel, I like the old logo over the up and coming design that i have noticed of late. The original design of half circle was to me always associated with a voice (having a microphone) to be in powering of the crowd here - that our voice was important, heard and amplified on what we feel was important. The new logo design for me shows (represents) the all seeing eye of crowd power but does not give the presentation of a voice within the image (logo) as much as the old one. Just my thoughts.
There's something about 'change' that i don't like...but I know I have to live with it. In this case, the new layout looks great...though I would prefer the existing color combination. Thanks for the invite Rachel and kudos to NowPublic!

Hi ya'll, I appreciate your hard work. Stylish new look. However, I think the colors need tweaking. The yellow is revolting, truthfully. And paired with a pinkish hue--oops. Just a few changes in both colors would make a great deal of difference. I was going to type in what the yellow color really looked like, but decided not to. ;}
I also think that going away from the blue logo, which already was identified with the brand, is counter-productive. People now look for symbols more than words, especially on the web. Why toss something--and an identifying color, too--that's just starting to soak into people's awareness?
The layout is fine. Not the colors. And what is the background supposed to tell us? A bug and a submarine on the bottom right--I don't quite get that.
Ooops. Coding is making some lines overwriter each other. For example, the NP logo to click to return to the front page is obscured by other stuff. The boxes for replies are now squished to one line.

Hi, thanks for your comment. Can you give us a little more information on what is failing for you... for example are you crowd sourcing images from your own flickr account?
If so it may be related to a bug that we're currently addressing.
Really, really, really irritating and frustrating: the way the coding is off and so various things overwrite each other and/or "squish" together. Today I tried to upload three photos. Can't do it, because the old one where you could upload several at once doesn't work. Instead, you have to laboriously upload one, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, repeat.
Also, the search function for photos, etc. doesn't seem to be working. In order to add a photo of Hillary Clinto to my story this a.m.--and we have lots of HC photos at NP--I finally downloaded the one I used the other day, then re-uploaded it to the current story.
We reset the style on the upload section of the story page, so all the upload slots are visible, and the license-management menu is once again clickable.
I really don't like the new HTML code used for the highlight tool. It's filled with superfluous HTML cruft that might do something on this site but when I use the tool to post to my blog, is not only useless but actively layout-harming. I have to go through and clean it up. I really would like a simple HTML code for the highlight tool (at least when it is not posted here):

Todd, I don't post from NP to my blog, unless I forget to uncheck that box. If I do, I then have to go clean the mess up. The mess also includes all kinds of crazy tags, as we all know the "tagging system" is totally off-the-wall.
It's of more value, I think, to highlight from your blog to NP if you're sharing. Then you can control what goes on your blog and not have to do clean-up chores. That's just my opinion, though.
Critical Todd: We haven't changed the Highlight code so there should not be any differences. But we will be updating Highlight in the future so any examples or suggestions you send us will be taken into consideration.
Ianivs, the program code might not have changed but the formatting of the quote-box/blockquote has indeed changed. The old format wasn't great but it was more semantically correct with less cruft. Now there are multiple DIV tags and the attribution text is placed outside the blockquote. This is not the way it was previously. The programming hasn't changed but the HTML certainly has, presumably to fit the new look of the website. However, I wish this "new" HTML code wasn't also shipped off to my blog from where I have to strip it off.
What's the point when all the old problems still exist? Color scheme, yeck! Can't get anything to work right, can't upload photos, can't get the never-ending sin to stop sinning. never know if your article posted unless you can open another window or tab, and failing that since even NP won't load, try it in another browser. And even the toolbar won't work, can't make bold, or italic, haven't dared the link yet. can't delete unnecessary words in an article trying to publish. and publish?
A New Look? isn't going to help the usability of the site. a squid after a submarine, what's that all about? some secret insider thing? and the images is the header? Are you trying to indicate that NowPublic is just a joke? that's the message I get from that.
Why can't you list how many members, countries and cities in the header anymore? That's a lot more pertinent.
Thanks for all your comments... we've addressed the bug with deleting messages, we will be rolling out a fix for that.
The cosmetic changes were done in tandem with many back end changes that put us in a position to move forward with an infrastructure project that will improve reliability.

the chanes are only cosmetic, I thought there was going to be something significant, like improved useability, etc.
The colour scheme is not modern, more like a dirty diaper.
If you want to be web 2.0, let us choose our own skins
