We just achieved another milestone today - and you might have missed it because it went by so fast and smoothly.
Ryan Nadel is NowPublic's newest member of our editorial team, and this morning on the way to work he noticed a very bad traffic accident.
He filed a report from his cell phone by dialing our Voice Report number - 1-866-225-9530 - nothing new there. For the last year or so contributors have had this very cool technology that allows them to post news stories from the field without going anywhere near a computer.
But this morning when Ryan filed his story, something much cooler happened: his audio was automatically converted into text - and uploaded to the site in a few moments.

Thanks ANG for this shout out. It was quite amazing to be standing there at the scene and calling in the report. If only I had a data plan on my phone I could have emailed the photos in direcltly and it would have been real time reporting. And the transcription was almost perfect except that it originally said I was walking down Granda Ma street...

You're right - I think in Australia you'd have to add extra digits to make this number work.
