NP Rank:
In light of the events in the past few days and weeks, we are implementing a few changes around the posting of "stories" regarding other members, members of staff or site issues.
We will no longer allow posts about members personally, about site issues, or about any member of staff, such as this one here, to remain on the site as a story.
We want NowPublic to be a place people come for news and to learn new things and have constructive discussions with each other, and a place where respect is maintained at all times.
If a "story" appears like this on the site the following steps will be taken:
1. A member of staff will post a comment saying that if you do not move your post to the forum within the next 30 minutes, we will do it for you, providing it complies with our Code of Conduct.
2. If the author does not move their post, then the staff member will move it to "discuss the community" if they feel it is appropriate and will generate some good points for discussion.
3. The post on the site will be unpublished, once and if, the post is moved to the forum.
4. If that same member persists to post "stories" in this manner, the member will be warned by private message.
5. If the member does not heed the warning in the private message, then they will be blocked within a time frame that remains at the discretion of staff.
We want NowPublic to be a respectful place, and posts in this manner will not be tolerated any more as news stories on the site. The forum is the place to discuss concerns about the site, its members or its policies.

Thanks NP-team for the clearness. I agree completely that this is the only way to keep NP the way it should be.

I do appreciate this and welcome it as a positive and constructive step here at NP and for us all!
Since the Forum is now accessible to all here at NP which was not the case only a month ago. I see no reason nor any justification not to use the forum to post and discuss all matters and if needed members of NP!
Thank you NP!
BTW, since we are on topic here I would suggest that my own post about NP that I wrote a couple of most ago, before the forum was open to all here be move here as well.
Now staff has to do that since I have no clue and do not want to figure it out either, at least not today!
Thank you NP!

Good work. Personal posts about other members made me deeply uncomfortable, and turned the site into something of a playground.

probably none of this recent stuff would have been necessary had NP treated all members in the same way with the same standards. I see you have deleted the John Carey membership. I hope NP staff will learn something from this?

So that means, I cannot post a Barry Artiste "I love Me" story! Boy, so much for freedom of me! HA

While I think the story linked above to which this topic refers to did have a dark and uneasy tone to it, and was a bit like the dirty laundry exposed in a divorce trial. That being said I feel that the forum has now become the equivalent of one colume inch on page 12 of a newspaper. It is a place where editors shall bury a story. The forum is not interactive enough or readable enough, or even easy enough to find. When something gets posted here it rarely gets addressed. I posted a question several weeks ago and still no response.
Today after using "NowPublic" in a story in the Culture section, I was immediately told it was not news, that I broke the code of ethics and that the story must be moved. I posed many many questions of editors and none where answered sufficiently and some not at all.
To be honest, I feel being accused of breaking the code of ethics is in itself a flame of me, thus breaking the code of ethics.

This may not be news, but its important that everybody knows on nowpublic that Glory keita is a known as one of the latest scammers and preys on lonely old rich men and I expect there a few here, lol. To be serious people like her would not scam if there was not enough gulible people to warrant the effort and even bright and clever people have fallen for scam such as hers.

Thanks for your post.
Just to let you know that this member has been blocked and while we do encounter this from time to time on NowPublic, we do in no way condone it and try to deal with it as quickly as possible. Some spammers are more crafty than others and if you get a message like this you can always send me a private message and I'll deal with it right away.
As outlined in our forum post here, this is an issue better raised in the forum, as you recognize it is not a news story, so if you would move it to the forum here and delete this post, that would be great.
If you don't have the opportunity in half an hour, then I can do it for you.
Thanks,

Thanks amyjudd, I thought about the forum, then realised that not everybody goes to the forum and reads such information. As I received an email and I expect many other members did, I thought it maybe a good idea to publish an article to make every body wise. I expect we do have some lonely old men here on nowpublic not that any of them will admit it, lol
I wish that admin would send out a warning email to members when private email addresses are invaded by scammers like gloria. Sorry if I broke protocol but I hate scammers and feel its right to inform others that such scams are taking place. This could be of interest to our non member readers remembering that this scammer is a new kid on the block, later today I am going to make sure she is listed on all anti scamming sites.
Could you please think over what I have said and then make a decision of which I will follow to the letter. I await your comment or just delete if you feel you have to, its up to you.
P.S. I will of course delete the article anyway after 24 hours as I don't want the points they are not that interesting to me anyway. I write for the love of it.

I'll move your post to the forum as it is an important issue that needs attention, just not here as a story.
I'll leave it to you to delete the post, but I will un-publish it.
I would like to say we could message every member when something like this happens, but at the moment it is not possible as we don't have the means to message every member at the same time.
Spammers have creative ways of attacking sites; we are still trying to get familiar with them all.
The post will be found here if anyone wishes to continue with the discussion.
