Calling all Newsifiers:
You are cordially invited to a realtime, online meeting - and it is going to be a bit of a challenge to make this happen, since we are in many different time zones.
This will probably take the form of a Skype voice call - and I am not sure how many users we can accommodate. Any suggestions are gratefully received.
I have created a a Google Calendar - which I hope we can use to organize a time as many of us can make.
Tentatively I have picked next Wednesday, Feb 28 at 5pm GMT+ 08 hrs - which is 5pm Pacific Standard Time.
Please either: accept the time (with a comment suggesting minor variations), or post an alternative time. I think after a few go-arounds we can find one that works for *most* of us.
Until our dev team works out our own calendaring system, we'll also be using this calendar temporarily.
Hopefully I will be able to figure out how to give you the necessary permissions so that all editors will be able to post upcoming events.
When that becomes available, I suggest this proposed format for titling events:
NowPublic.com - Brisbane - Climate Change Conference
We'll work on this with your help and suggestions.

I'd suggest we do a skype cast: http://support.skype.com/?_a=knowledgebase&_j=subcat&_i=42
we can have up to 100 ppl participate, and we can all talk and discuss; if skype is buggy, as it someimtes is, and we can't all hear each other we can always fall back on a large skyp chat - this would be good to have going during the call anyway to share urls, etc.
if you like this option i'll set one up and send out the info (i.e. you might need to uprgade your skype client - not sure if older skype versions support this - i'll check into that). let me know.
note that if you want we can also record the skype cast to mp3 via a skype plugin and post it up to the newsroom for those who can't make the call. also, i marked this post as sticky so every sees it/particpates in the call.

Thanks Meyers. We should test skypecast before hand. Mebbe next week we can gather some together to do a test.

skype v 1.4 or higher - if you installed or updated in the past 18 months or so you should be OK.
