Start where you are. Great journalism does not have to come from exotic locations or complex conspiracies, intriguing though these may be. One of the great journalists of the 20th century, John McPhee, wrote a long report for the New Yorker Magazine about oranges. It became a best-selling book. Anything you experience that you would tell any friend or acquaintance, you can make public. Anything you read on the web, anything that sparks your curiosity, can be the start of a new conversation.
