3. Why News is Not Rocket Science

Contrary to the puffed-up self-importance of many professional reporters, the making of news is not something that requires a degree from a journalism school. As soon as we learn to talk, we begin to report. Babies report what they learn; they point out what's new in their environment. In fact, the ability to report probably marked an evolutionary turning-point that made us human. Later we all gathered around a fire to hear the local shaman report all the juicy new stuff.
