Cubs Villain Steve Bartman Offered $25K to Sign One Autograph

Five years ago, an unsuspecting feller named Steve Bartman took the pressure off Billy Goats everywhere in becoming the Chicago Cubs’ latest curse. During Game 6 of the 2003 NLCS, the glasses and headphone-donning Bartman reached out from the stands to grab a ball, getting tangled up with Cubs outfielder Moises Alou and earning the distinction as most-hated fan ever. The Northsiders went on to lose the series against the Florida Marlins and Bartman understandably disappeared, refusing requests for interviews and taking a leave of absence from his job. Now, Bartman may reemerge for a cool $25,000. Sportsbuy.com and the National Sports Collectors Convention have offered the elusive fan a hefty sum if he shows up at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois, at 1 p.m. on July 31 and signs a single autograph on a photo of the infamous event. $25K for one name scribble? Sheesh.

ACBert, I like this story. It's good stuff.

I wonder if he will? That is a lot of money!

Very Interesting. I remember watching that game and I didn't think it was that big of a deal when Bartman caught it instead of Alou. As it turns out, it cost them the game and the curse continues...
