McDonald's is having problems in Moroccos with a map in a "Happy Meal".
Moroccan subsidiary of the fast food restaurant chain McDonald's apologised for cutting Western Sahara off a map of the country included on its "Happy Meal" children's toys, MAP agency reported Monday.
"The toys included a small map on which the borders were incorrectly drawn. We profoundly regret making this mistake and we apologise to our loyal customers and our fellow citizens," said McDonald's Morocco in a statement.
MAP said bosses from the local food chain, who apologised after a joint Moroccan-Sahara association complained to the company about the error, plan to replace the offending toys that come free with a children's "Happy Meal."
Western Sahara was annexed by Morocco in 1975 following the withdrawal of former colonial power Spain, sparking a war with separatists from the Polisario Front before both sides agreed to a UN-brokered ceasefire in 1991.
Rabat has offered a form of autonomy for the territory under Moroccan sovereignty, while the Polisario Front want a referendum on self-determination.

a very sensitive issue. boundaries certainly affect.
How I wish there were no human drawn boundaries on this Earth! Humans drew the non-existent boundaries and now are behind each others lives for keeping these boundaries intact. When will the Human race mature?????

It is disgraceful that McDonalds apologized. Morocco is an invading and occupying power in the Western Sahara. First of all, the United Nations has long considered Morocco's occupation as illegal under international law, and the International Court of Justice in 1975 rejected Morocco's claims to sovereignty over the territory. Secondly, no country on earth officially recognizes Moroccan sovereignty, while over forty countries recognize the sovereignty of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR). In addition, the African Union recognizes SADR, and not Moroccan, sovereignty. Outside of Morocco, I am not aware of ANY maps that show the WS as part of Morocco. Thirdly, even if McDonalds felt they should recognize Morocco's illegal occupation, Morocco doesn't even control the whole territory. The Polisario Front is in control of a portion.
