Armed men loot bank, escape with Rs4 mn

KARACHI: Eight armed men looted Rs4 million from a commercial bank in Muaripur Road and fled with money after killing a policeman and a security guard on Friday, police officials said.

They said eight armed men entered the bank at 10 AM today and held the present clients and staff hostage. The bank’s private security guard Shah Alam and Police Constable Mukhtar Hussain exchanged fire with the robbers before they were killed on the spot.

The robbers then looted Rs4 million cash from the strong room of the bank and escaped from the scene.

Police officials reached the bank after the incident and took into custody feeds of surveillance cameras installed in the bank.
