It's been more than a decade since Somalia has had a functioning government, and warlords both local and foreign have attempted to carve it up as they saw fit. The result is a population of refugees in their own country, and a haven only for the lawless. The current issue of piracy only makes headlines since it affects people and businesses outside of Somalia.
Thank Jordan. I concur with you. May be taking their problem do lawlessness to the worlds feet will finally shake the world to its senses. This is one option I had not looked at.
Rwandas problem was much similar. A lot happened within their borders and the world never took notice.
In a way, the pirate problem could be Somalia's blessing in disguise. Someone may at last pay attention to the plight of the voiceless masses inside somalia.
