BONES recovered from a crocodile in Australia match the DNA of missing Scot, Arthur Booker, who went missing last month.

The'>http://www.timesonline.co.uk/...rticle5169530.ece"]The human remains found inside a 14ft crocodile in Queensland have been confirmed as that of missing British Vietnam War veteran Arthur Booker.

Mr Booker, who was born in Banffshire, Scotland and immigrated to Australia in 1959, went missing while on a camping trip with his wife Doris at the Endeavour River in Cooktown, north Queensland on September 30.

Friends and family held a memorial service in Brisbane for missing ex-pat Scot, Arthur Booker, 62, believed to have been eaten by a crocodile in North Queensland, Australia.  Police believe human remains found inside a twelve foot long croc are almost certainly his.

The crocodile has iconocastic status as an endangered species and the suspect will be sent to a crocodile stud farm to live out the rest of his days in disgrace.

MOURNERS said farewell to Scots crocodile victim Arthur Booker yesterday, as a piper played Scotland The Brave.

Family and friends swapped memories of the Vietnam veteran, almost three weeks after he disappeared while on holiday with wife Doris in north Queensland, Australia.

Sandals and a watch are all that have been found of Arthur, 62, after an extensive search.

But authorities believe they have captured the croc - a 14ft male with a front foot missing.

Human remains were found inside the reptile's stomach.

Police are waiting for DNA tests to confirm that the remains are those of Arthur.

Arthur, who was born in Banffshire, had gone down the Endeavour River around 8.30am to check crab pots. He disappeared without trace as his wife waited in their vehicle

POLICE in Australia have confirmed that the human remains of a man have been found inside a crocodile's stomach contents in the far north of Queensland.  DNA tests are now awaited to discover whether the remains are those of missing expatriate Brit, Arthur Booker, 62, reported missing by his wife.

Police tonight said a forensic examination of material taken from the stomach of the 4.5-metre crocodile were from a man.

The remains are almost certainly those of Mr Booker, from Logan, south of Brisbane, who has not been seen since he went to check a crab pot on the Endeavour River near Cooktown on September 30.

However, police are awaiting the results of DNA tests.

A WEDDING ring, believed to be that of missing ex-patriot Scot, Arthur Booker's, 62, a Vietnam veteran for Australia has shown up in an X-Ray of the larger of the two crocodiles captured under suspicion of being implicated in Mr. Booker's mysterious disappearance.

A WEDDING ring is believed to have been found in the stomach of one of the crocodiles suspected of taking Brisbane Vietnam veteran Arthur Booker.

ABC Television reported that X-rays showed a wedding band inside the larger of two crocodiles captured last week in the Endeavour River, Cooktown, as part of the search for Mr Booker, The Courier-Mail reports.

Missing 62 -year old expat Scot, Arthur Booker, may have been devoured by a crocodile investigators confirm after human remains were identified inside one of the resident crocodiles in Queensland, Australia.

Officials in Queensland who have been investigating the fate of Arthur Brooker, 62, said they had found the remains inside one of three big crocodiles captured in the Endeavour River.

Mr Booker, who is originally from Scotland and served with Australian forces in the Vietnam war, vanished from the banks of the crocodile-infested river in Cape York last week while checking pots used to catch crabs.

The three crocodiles, longtime residents of the Endeavour, were then caught and taken by truck to a veterinary surgery in Cairns. One has been ruled out as a possible culprit but the other two will be subjected to further tests, a police spokesman said following the initial discovery of human tissue.

WILDLIFE Operations Manager Mike Devery of Queensland Parks has said of a 14.3 metre crocodile strongly suspected of devoured missing Brit, Arthur Booker, 62, and who had human remains found in his stomach, that it was a "problem crocodile" with a bad attitude problem towards people.  The crocodile is one of two put under an endoscopy to see whether it was responsible for the mysterious disappearance of the ex-pat Scotsman.  A crododile trail was left leading up to where Mr. Booker was last located whilst tending his crabpots.

A possible epitaph:

Here Lies the Body of a Wee Canny Scot

Arthur Booker by name and by stature

A croc was awaiting by Arthur's yon crab pot

As nurture gave way unto nature.

No maer will Art camp by a billabong

In the shade of a kookaburra tree

For all that's left of Art is a watch and two sandals

As the croc made a meal out of he."

"His behaviour labels him as a problem crocodile," Queensland Parks and Wildlife operations manager Mike Devery said yesterday.

"It was showing very territorial behaviour. It was swimming on top of the water and was not deterred at all by boats with people in them.

"He is a concern, particularly with ongoing tour operations and a lot of human activity on the part of the river."

Michael Devery, a manager with Queensland Parks and Wildlife, said the 500kg reptile had shown threatening behaviour during the search for Mr Booker and was not frightened of humans.

It will most likely end up at a crocodile farm.

I was visiting a family, who lives on a boat on the Endeavour River near Cooktown. The lady came to fetch us in a dingy and after a few hours, when we had to go home again, she took us back to the shore. While doing so, she pointed to one of the sandbanks in the river. "Look", she said:" there he is. He is here always at the same time, basking in the sun. He is an old male croc.". For me it was exciting, because during all my holidays in Oz I'd never seen one single crocodile. And now finally at last...! I am sorry, but this was not the croc who recently killed a man. I got the whole sad story from my daughter who lives near Cooktown. If you want to read that you may go to my blog: http://readerwil.blogspot.com . I wrote it "7 days ago. It's called " Charly and his mates..

This photo was taken during my 3 month trip to Australia. I was lucky to get quite close to this crocodile at Australia Zoo, Brisbane.
