After a producer and song writer takled to him about their beliefs, and how they have become better people after they converted into muslim, Michael also like the idea of changing. His new name Mikaeel is the name of Allah's angels.

Assalamu alaikum Brother Mikaeel and welcome to Islam. You are not converting but reverting. By nature and logic there is only one creator, one universe, one humanity and hence every child is born in nature is the one who submits to these ideas that is belief in ONE TRUE ALMIGHTY CREATOR, but due to their parents upbringing, the child grows as a Christian, as a Jew, as a Hindu, as a Buddhist, as a Sikh etc. In your case you were raised as a Christian and now realising the nature, you are reverting to nature and that is Islam.

Islam is the only ideology that has to a large extent demolished the barriers of nationality, caste, colour and complexes. For instance Indian Christianity is a big failure because the Indian Christians still stick to their original high caste and low caste, but Indian Islam ( I mean the Hindu converts to Islam) has totally eliminted that.
